It can be very confusing to prioritize which herbs should take up your growing space, so I’ve compiled a list of 5 tasty herbs to use as a home cook. I can guarantee that you’re going to use at least one of these!

1. Rosemary

A member of the mint family, rosemary is a refined herb that can add some cool savory goodness to your dishes. It’s an herb best used dry and dominates Mediterranean cuisine.

Not to mention, using your own dried rosemary makes me feel like a 5-star chef. Even if I sometimes cook my pasta WAY past al dente.

Rosemary goes best with meat, game, and fish. Especially oily fish. One dish I especially recommend using rosemary butter with your lamb rubs. I’m telling you, it adds an infused flavor that will make people come for seconds.

2. Basil

Another member of the mint family, basil is an easy-to-grow herb that is perfect for adding a peppery lift to your home-cooked stews and sauces. Especially tomato sauce!

Chives are perfect for adding a green, fresh, onion flavor to your dishes!

They have 2 edible parts. The hollow greens are best for lighter soups, stews, and fish while the dainty flowers are perfect garnishes.
